The Elderly Burnish, or Old Guy by some fans, is a minor character in the movie Promare. He first appears in the Burnish institution Lio, Gueira, and Meis arrive at. He escapes with them later on.

Personality[]
At first, the Elderly Burnish seems to be someone who cares for his fellow Burnish deeply. He warns against breaking the cuffs after Gueira's outburst and feels sympathy for Lio after Thyma's death. However, his true colors show during a raid at Fennel Volcano where he places a bomb on Lio's chest and reveals himself as a traitor who lead Freeze Force to their hideout. The old man was willing to sacrifice up to a hundred Burnish in order to save himself. Vulcan immediately restrains him after though.
Appearance[]
The Elderly Burnish, as one could presume, has a very aged appearance. He is depicted with pale white skin and a long white beard. The top of his head is completely bald minus brows. His eyes are only black dots behind rounded glasses. A few of his teeth are missing likely due to his age.
When he first appears, he is wearing an orange prison uniform and several bandages. He and other Burnish are later given brown cloaks to wear.

Promare[]
When Lio, Gueira, and Meis are brought to their cell, several Burnish are found within. A few included are the elderly man and Thyma. After Gueira is angered by the guard's mistreatment, the old man explains that there's no point to breaking their cuffs as they will immediately be frozen. The group's attention is then brought to Thyma.
After Lio breaks out of his cuffs, he enacts a prison breakout that frees several Burnish. Of these Burnish is the old man himself, who is surprised by Gueira and Meis' arrival. They all climb aboard a nearby helicopter and later hide inside a cave that Galo finds. With Galo later restrained by Lio, the elderly man is the one who directs Lio's attention to Thyma who, after a failed CPR attempt, dies. As the group drives away, the old man shows concern towards Lio.
As everyone is settling in their hideout at Fennel Volcano, the group is suddenly ambushed by Freeze Force. Lio and his generals attempt to fight off the police force, but a bomb is placed on Lio's chest by the old man. Vulcan then shoots an absolute zero bullet into Lio's chest. The old man reveals himself to be a traitor. As he begins to brag about being on the winning side, Vulcan shoots at him and proceeds to sit atop his body. He is taken away alongside other Burnish.
He is briefly seen inside the Promatech engine, screaming as his flames are being forcibly taken away from him.

At some point around Lio's arrival at the institution, Vulcan and the Burnish man struck a deal where the latter would follow Lio around and act as a tracking device. He was presumably promised freedom. With this, he was given an ice bomb to use. After the two men restrain Lio, Vulcan almost immediately after freezes the old man and proceeds to sit on his body. Like all other Burnish, Vulcan saw him as nothing more than fuel.
Lio[]
He, alongside Thyma and others, was rescued by Mad Burnish in prison. Throughout this entire time though, he planned on betraying the Burnish group. Despite this, he shows concern for Lio and his generals as well. As Lio is sulking in the driveaway truck, he peeks from backseat to check on him. He is also the one to direct Lio's attention to Thyma. Lio naturally also cared for his wellbeing despite his betrayal, more upset from Freeze Force and Kray.
Thyma[]
Thyma and the elderly man were temporarily locked in the same cell with Thyma mostly unconscious. Akin with Lio, he cared for her as a fellow Burnish but planned to betray the group for his own reasoning. In the cave, he directs Lio to Thyma whose condition is worsening. Lio thus attempts Burnish CPR with no luck. This results in the entire group becoming somber.
