Pops, also referred to as Chief, is a minor character from Promare. He appears when Burning Rescue go to a local pizzeria off-duty. He is defined by his considerate personality.

Personality[]
Pops is a kind middle aged man who runs a local pizzeria Galo and company frequent. He casually talks to his customers, even referring to them by name, and cares deeply for his employees' safety. This comes to the point where he is willing to break the law in order to protect them.
Appearance[]
A fat shorter man, Pops' hair is grey and balding at the top. He has large grey eyebrows and a bushy upper mustache. His shirt is a solid white while his apron is a pure black akin to his employee. Pops is also depicted with wide, green eyes.
History[]
Promare[]
After the defeat of Mad Burnish's leader by Burning Rescue and Kray awards Galo with a medal, the group visits a local pizzeria. They meet the owner there who gives them their orders. During this, they briefly discuss the discrimination against the Burnish, with Pops claiming that they're not all so bad. He then continues to serve the group and fellow customers throughout.
Freeze Force then suddenly arrives on the scene. They have arrived to apprehend one of his employees for the Foresight Foundation's Burnish experiments. After said employee attempts to defend himself, he is soon restrained. Pops then attempts to defend him. This only has him be arrested as well. Aina and Galo also intervene, only to have Vulcan scoff at them. They are then taken away from the premises. As Pops is not Burnish, he was likely taken to a non-Burnish institution.
Relationships[]
Galo[]
Galo seems to be a regular customer of his. They are familiar enough to where he tosses food into Galo and Varys' mouths and also knows Galo by name. After Vulcan and Freeze Force raid the pizzeria, both him and Aina attempt to protect him when Freeze Force enforces police brutality. Their efforts are in vain as the group successfully takes them away.
Pizzeria Employee[]
Pops appears to have a close relationship with him, as he was harboring the employee and was willing to protect him when Freeze Force arrives. He also comments that be merely wanted to make "the best pizza in town." For these, he was arrested as well. As Pops is not Burnish, he was likely not sent to the same institution.
Aina[]
Aina is a fellow customer alongside fellow Burning Rescue members. She briefly talks with Pops during a conversation alongside her co-workers. After both Pops and the employee are restrained by Freeze Force, Aina attempts to defend them both as neither of them would be considered 'terrorists' by the law. This merely results in Vulcan scoffing at her as he takes them away.
